Field Notes from Maker
A poster exhibition at The Garrison Gallery, Maker Heights

Field Notes from Maker is a collaborative poster series and exhibition created by 51 Studio (design) and Neasden Control Centre (artist), blending folklore, speculative history, and surreal storytelling. Installed at The Garrison Gallery on the windswept clifftops of Maker Heights, the project draws from the site’s layered military past and imagined hauntings to explore five thematic "signals" from the edge of the land.

Each poster acts as a fragment—part field report, part ghost story—merging typography, illustration, and mythic narrative. From sea spirits and vanishing lookouts to fictional dispatches and warped timelines, the series invites viewers into a dreamlike version of the site where history is fluid and meaning drifts like fog.

The exhibition was accompanied by a limited-edition zine, presenting the full set of stories, sketches, and encoded ephemera.
